What is the Spirit of Leadership Award

Each year hundreds of extraordinary San Diego County high school and middle school young women are nominated by the community to receive the “Spirit of Leadership” Award.

Selected recipients are invited to attend the acclaimed “Spirit of Leadership” conference that provides training and well-deserved recognition. The conference includes compelling keynote speakers, informative break-out sessions and a mentor experience. It is a transformational day infused with high energy, fun interactive activities and multi-media performances.

Who is eligible

Each year the “Spirit of Leadership” program seeks nominees that show leadership potential in one or more of the following areas:

• Community Leadership
  Demonstrates positive leadership within her peer group, youth organization, faith community, philanthropic activities etc.
• Student Leadership
  Demonstrates leadership by making a difference within her school’s community through participation in student body activities such as ASB, committees, activism, peer relations etc.
• Academic Leadership
  Demonstrates commitment and success with her individual academic endeavors.
• Creative Leadership
  Demonstrates being an innovative force in any area of the arts; music, theater, dance, writing/poetry, photography, etc.
• Athletic Leadership
  A team player who demonstrates a passion for her sport, courage, skill, sportsmanship and commitment to her team.
• Family Leadership
  Demonstrates leadership through her commitment and contributions to her family.
• Personal Integrity
  Demonstrates leadership through her ability to speak her truth, treat others with respect and honor her personal values.
• The Undiscovered Leader
  As you consider the young women you know, remember we are reaching out to those who might not recognize this potential that lies within; we would like to help them recognize and step into becoming leaders in their own lives!

Who can nominate

Each year we see hundreds of girls light up when they learn who took the time to nominate them for this award. Being recognized and acknowledged can sometimes be just the thing that ignites strong self-esteem and creates a lasting impact.

Nominations are submitted by educators, youth leaders, neighbors, faith leaders, family members and friends. Make a difference in the lives of the young women you know – nominate them today!

*Participation in the age appropriate conference is required for selected recipients to be eligible to receive the official “Spirit of Leadership” award.
